Shure PG mics vs. SM57 and Beta52?

Hey everyone...
Just got a question for anyone who knows...How does the Shure PG series rack up against the 57 and Beta 52? Are they still perfectly usable and sound good, or are they basically Fischer Price toys that shapoopie. Just wondering because the drum kits are quite a bit cheaper and if the sound wasn't TOO much worse I figured I'd save a little money since my budget is next to null. Thanks,

no comparison at all............. apples and oranges in terms of sound quality...

I've got a couple of PG mics lying around for talkback -- that's about all they're good for, IMO.

I agree with Blue Bear Sound... I don't like the Shure PG series mics either.

EDIT: Added:
-------------

A nice set of budget mics for drums would be...

Shure SM57... snare
ATM25... kick
(2) Oktava MC-012... overheads

Some of my favorites are...

Beyer M201... snare
Sennheiser MD421... kick
(2) Josephson C42... overheads

dont get a drum mic kit, those things suck unless you mabye to with the sm series. Get a sm-57, some mxl 603s, and a kick mic, about the same price as a kit.

My drummer made the mistake of buying the PG Drum Mic Kit. He did however sell it for more than he bought it, and ended up picking up two AKG C1000's and a Beta 52 with the money.
