As one who is often defeated by TV dialogue I rely a lot on subtitles but often am as enraged by those almost as much as the mumbled dialogue or the intrusive (and often Totally pointless!) background music. It was therefore enlightening to see the process they use for subtitles on the BBC's Point Of View yesterday. My admiration and tolerance are well advanced!

I eventually got a shot of the mic and HORROR it has a switch! But maybe they need to cut it out often as it feed the computer?

I know what you mean. When watching "Black List" or "The Walking Dead" or "Ray Donovan" or "Better Call Saul" or "The Americans" I always have to engage the subtitles, even if there is no competing noise in the room.
