I know they have been around for a while, and I've really enjoyed my MK012s on lots of stuff, but I just got this mic in trade, and I like it.

I like it! What would you normally use on banjo?

I've had pretty good luck with the following in no particular order:
Oktavamod Apex 205 paired with a 414 as a room mic.
SM 57
AKG 414 B ULS or B XLS
Bill Sitler mod Oktava MK-012 (a little too much detail in upper mids)
EV RE 15

Ever watch Hee Haw? I've never seen an episode without a banjo with an RE20 in front of it. Sometimes I believe they used a U87, but I'd like to have the RE20 that Bobby Thompson poured all those good notes into...or any RE20 for that matter.

Those work for me. Any unhyped LDC can do the job too.You have to have the highs attenuated because the banjo sure isnt going to do it for you. A great banjo is always welcome . Makes it a lot easier. I mostly get to capture the dulcet tones of a Greg Deering Signature.
