I live in North Carolina. The humidity is currently 93%. I recently brought my Shure KSM27 to another location to record, and ever since I have been getting a TON of noise from it. My chain is (Shure KSM27)>(Vintech Audio 573 micpre)>(grace m502 compressor)>(Sound Devices USBPre2)>[via USB 2.0] (MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010)). I then replaced my condenser with another dynamic mic. The problem was fixed. No excessive noise. Here is an audio sample of just the condenser mic into the interface <iframe width="100%" height="166" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="http://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F49789716&show_artwork=true"></iframe> I read that humidity could cause this problem. Does anybody think this is the case? If this is the issue, what's the best way to fix it? humidifier? work lights? fan?
Can anyone help me with a diagnosis? Do I need to dry out my condenser?? If so how?
