Fake SM57?

The font around the grille appears different to what I have seen before.

Also the registered trade make symbol is written after the Shure logo which I have also never seen before.

The "LO Z" looks different to what I have seen. It's usually bolder.

The word "dynamic" looks smaller than usual.

The big question. What did it cost you?

Do you have a known legit 57? Weigh the two separately and see what the difference is.
Any fakes I've seen have a hollow plastic cylinder where the real magnet should be.

the wires are the correct colour

there's a transformer, it even sounds genuine (to my ear) up against an SM58 without grill and a Beta 58A

it is just the Fonts and the shoddy bottom

anyway i have sent it to shure

I had a similar issue with the Avantone CK-1 mics I bought. Fonts were a little less bold and other minute changes on one. Sent them some pics along with the serial numbers and they informed me that the mics were just made 3 years apart with a slightly altered design on the newer one. I'm sure it's the same thing with your sm57. Just a different year than what you're used to seeing. Why did you send it to Shure? Verification?

As long as it sounds good, I say who cares!

Just changing a vendor can make a difference.
