Cajon Mic Placement

Okay, so I have been trying to record my cajon with my LDC that can take 140 SPL. I have been placing the mic in front of the cajon, and I was wondering if it is too loud for the mic. I read that high SPL can stretch the diaphragm of a large diaphragm mic. I know I am probably over reacting but I am a very low budget and can't afford another mic. Thanks!!

Should be fine out in front although the true sound comes from putting a microphone in the hole of the cajon. I use a Shure SM91 boundary microphone. Or you can use a kick drum microphone.

What is your LDC RockClimber?
