I can buy a Brüel & Kjær 4007 . I wonder what the price should be. The Brüel & Kjær 4007 is a previous version of a DPA4007.

Depending on the age and condition, I'd say anywhere from $500 to around $1000.

Lovely mic - but is one omni that useful to you. Pairs can be handy for all sorts - I can't quite think of many uses for a single omni?

How about anything that would be recorded in mono? Vocals, acoustic instruments, room mic for drums... if the room sounds good I say go omni.

Yep, true (pressure capsule) omnis like the 4007 can be great for close miking acoustic instruments because of the lack of proximity effect. They can be somewhat problematic on loud sources in a bad sounding room, however.
