I've been trying to post this question for the last two days.

For my voice baritone to bass which one of these would be the best
microphone

EVI 635A
Shure SM58
Sennheiser E835

P.S. Sorry for the edit but either due to my setting or the homerecording server I have to post quickly (a couple of seconds) or I can't post at all.

If you have a deep sounding baritone (or lower voice), then the EV 635a will sound like it's thinning it out. While this could be useful in a heavy mix sometimes, it wouldn't be my first grab.

Between the SM58 and E835, preferred the Sennheiser on a couple of basses and baritones. Suspect this is largely due to the E835 being less fussy as to which pre or mixer is used compared to a Shure BTW.

If you could score an Electro-Voice RE15 (or RE16), or Beyer Soundstar MKII
(aka M400 or Model 400) that'd be what I would do instead.
They are smoother in nature to the three you have listed.

Love the EV 635a, but my voice is a bright high baritone/2nd tenor.:)
It's a favorite for easy vocal practice, a real "plug and play" mic.

Whatever you pick, be prepared to learn placement skills and judicious EQing, as they're what's typical to get a high quality vocal.

Chris

P.S. When searching ebay use both "RE15" and "RE-15".

Hey Chris what if I were recording. Will you still prefer the E835 as suppose to the SM58?
