Need some help choosing a mic. I'll be using it for male vocals only... mainly for hip hop/r&b records.... & running it thru a Robbie Blue pre or a UA-S610 SOLO (both around $800)

anybody have any experience with any of the mics below. which one is my best bet??

sterling st69
blue bottle rocket stage 1
audio-technica AT4047
neumann tlm 102

all mics will sound different depending on the source. different voices sound better with different mics. If at all possible its best to try them out and see which you like best.

My choices would narrow it down between the AT and the Neumann ..... but like one guy said - different strokes for different folks.
Are you able to audition any of these microphones at a local store?

Try Vintage 11, check these A/B test with U87 sound samples

Vintage 11

Neumann U87

There are more videos of the V11 compared to Audio Technica 4033, AKG 414, Brauner Valvet

I'd add the Rode K2 and the SE4400A to your short list. Both are lovely sounding mics and the multipattern feature of the 4400A is very useful.

Frankly, I prefer both of these to the Neumann's in your price range.
