Audiophile 2496 Soundcard does not support Dynamic Microphones?

i was just wondering if an audiophile 2496 soundcard does not work with dynamic microphones,im testing a dynamic mic going thru an art tube preamp to the soundcard,and cant seem to get it to work
im wondering if the audiophile does not support dynamic microphones..
there is another tread that backs up my doubts

That makes no sense whatsoever.

That soundcard, if I'm remembering correctly, doesn't even have a mic input - which, of course, you know, as you're connecting the mic to an outboard preamp, and the preamp to the soundcard. There's no way that soundcard could even "know" what kind of microphone the signal came from (or even that it came from a microphone at all).

If you are not getting a signal from your mike, you need to look at other causes of problems, rather than attributing it to the sound card. For example, check the mike cable. Check the leads from pre-amp to audiophile. Check simple things, like making sure the preamp power is on . . . and so on.

Check also the settings in your computer, to make sure it knows that the audiophile is selected as a soundcard.

And check that the line input isn't muted on the sound card control panel.
