They're "B" stock. May work fine, though.

B stock usually has some kind of abbreviated warranty. You should be able to send them back if there are any functional issues.

Is there sufficient difference between the AT4040 and AT4047 to warrant owning them both? I'm partitial to A-T mics, which is why I'm considering the AT4047 along with my existing AT4040.

Or, is there another good quality transformer LDC that would provide a different character within the AT4047 price/quality range?

I do not now have the luxury of multiple preamps. I'm completely restricted to those in my Aardvark Q10 units. My uses for LDC are voice and non-electric instruments.
