AKG perception 820 vs C414

I'd go for the 414. The Perceptions were never really anything great for me. At that price point, I'd say you might as well go with the 414.
As ido has stated, the 414 XLS isn't as bright as the XL II. If you look at the frequency response charts of the XLS, it's almost a flat line, and when it's put in omni mode, it's essentially a flat line, plus or minus appx. 0.5dB.
The XL II is a bit more bright, and I've only ever used it back when I was in college, but we used a pair of them on an acoustic guitar and I loved it. It kinda just depends on if you're looking for a brighter sound or a more neutral one when deciding between the XLS and XL II.
