AKG C414 mic upgrade thoughts?

Hi,

Currently use the rode nt2a on male vox / acoustic guitar been debating getting ahold of a akg c414 XL II heard some good stuff then i've also heard bad stuff... what do you guys think of this mic as an upgrade? Also was considering getting a preamp to put in front of my focusrite scarlett a FM RNP would be my first choice. I've listened to some audio samples and it does stack up well versus API's.

My budget is roughly £750-800 (don't know what that is in dollars but mics are more expensive here in the UK)

Any advice?

If the AKG will work on your voice it will be a beautiful thing - but if it doesn't - you'll have a great instrument microphone.

Ahh crapp, will have to try it then I guess. Maybe send it back if it don't like it vs my rode. I'm also looking for any other ideas if anyone has any mic suggestions :D

How do you think a neumann tlm102 would stick it out vs an 414? or I could consider a TLM 103.
