so i've used a 4047 as my main vocal mic for over a year. i love it. unfortunately it was on loan from a friend who recently reclaimed it.
now i'm in the market...literally...tomorrow. i've got a session tomorrow and i'm heading to GC to pick up a mic b4 hand.
to my knowledge, the 4050 is much like the 4047, except with switchable patterns (cardiod, omni, figure 8), which may be a very useful feature, but is it $100 more worth of useful?
also i'm eyeballing a 3060 which is about the same price as the 4047. it's a tube mic. i've no experience w/ tube mics but would suspect they provide some serious warmth.
i usually run my vocal tracks through a dbx 386.
i'd love some opinions on these mics and any other large tips you may have to offer b4 i make a purchase. especially since GC isn't too hip to exchanging mics.
thanks!
