Oberheim OB3 sq module not working

Hi. Bought this Oberheim Hammond module in Rome years ago, and whilst it worked fine in the shop, it never did once back home in the UK.There's power ok but just lots of hiss in headphones. Tried many preset variations but no joy whatsoever. Using thru a Roland PC180 midi controller. Am not up on how these things work...any help?
