A stupid question is better than a stupid mistake

So actually I'm a bass player switching to guitar. Anyway guitar amps seem complicated to me. I was thinking about getting a Fender champion 30 DSP or equivalent. When switching channels I understand there is the footswitch to go from clean to distortion- but, can I footswitch the effects on also with the footswitch on this amp? How does that work. Sorry for the duh :o
 
If guitar amps seem complicated than it most likely means you are looking at the wrong amps. Get a simple real amp with a tube pre and power amps section. Plenty of good things on the used market. Get a few pedals and have some fun. Dont get some digital wiz band amp. It probably wont sound that great and its resale value will take a dive every year you own it.
