I'm beginning to like these threads where we get to put in our two cents listing stuff.
Now...........how about some bands that are from days gone by that alot of kids nowadays would not remember,or have never heard of? I'm an old-timer (as you may see from my list),so I'll start......these bands actually made it.
(1) Savoy Brown
(2) Jo Jo Gunne
(3) Procol Harum
(4) Trapeze
(5) Wings
(6) April Wine
(7) Blue Cheer
(8) James Gang
(10) Mountain
(11) Manfred Man's Earth Band
(12) Cactus

(14)Free
(15)Steppenwolf
(16)Foghat
(17) Thin Lizzy
(18) Flash
(19) Wishbone Ash
(20) Johnny and Edgar Winter

I'm sure that I will come back with more...but this ought to jog some memory cells.A friend and I sat down one night and tried to think of all the bands we used to listen to,and wondered,"Where are they now?"

Tweedsville, are you a Canuck? That list has a bit of a Maple flavour.

I'm a little younger than you two, but here's a few that made me work harder. Beside them I've put my favourite album by each.

Change of Heart- I've never heard a better album than Smile :). Recorded live to DAT in 4 days, and editted down to 72 min to fit on a CD

Replacements/Paul Westerberg-Pleased to Meet Me
The Pixies/Frank Black- Doolittle
Lowest of the Low - Shakespeare My Butt
Concrete Blonde - Free

Way to go Tweedvile with the Status Quo. "Pictures Of Matchstick Man"...what a great dumb riff...but so cool.

How about :
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
Budgie

All I can think to add right now, and I'm not saying either of these were any good.

peace.

let's see:
The Kinks
Big Star
Posies
Drive Like Jehu
Polvo
Gang Of Four
The Stooges
The Runaways

Change of Heart were the best band I've ever seen live.

- Captain Beyond
- Babe Ruth
- Armageddon
- Gentle Giant
- The Sparks
- Roller Goblin
- Blind Faith
- Supertramp
- Harlequin (there's a canuck band - "Thinking of You" - dig that drum sound)

Gentle Giant...Good One

Some more

Strawbs
Frigid Pink...(beyond bizarre)
Amboy Dukes
Focus

Some more:

Chilliwack (spelling?) they were Canadians, weren't they?

Honeymoon Suite : kinda hair-farmerish, but something about their first album I liked...oh yeah, my wife liked it, I liked her, I listened to it...you all know how that goes.

peace.

oh yeah, I just remembered the Foreign Objects. Who cares if they sucked, with titles like "Wrestling is Real" and "Who Can Deny the Mastery of Lou Albano", how can you go wrong. You don't really need to listen to the record, just read it and have a good laugh.

peace.
