Gibson p94R Pickup issue

Slowing becoming un-noob.
So I recently...well...like a couple months ago....Installed this pickup into my guitar along with a Seymour Duncan SH-14 custom 5

I have an ESP f-100FM

It has a switch to switch from only the bridge pickup...to using both pickups...to using just the neck pickup...and when I have it on just the bridge pickup, then there is no problem. But when the neck pickup is engaged then there is a hum going on...nothing too major, just a hum when I'm not playing. It also only hums when my distortion pedal is on, or well...not as evident when off. So I'm wondering if there is a main problem wrong with it, or I should just deal with it seeing as it isn't a major issue.

Thanks for the help!!

Welcome to the world of single coil pickups. I'm afraid that's just the way they work, and short of getting a humbucker you will never get rid of it. Try playing it in a room with a bunch of neon signs sometime, and it will get MUCH worse.

The P94 is a single coil pickup and its pretty noisy by design.

Ha, alright, thanks guys. I guess I'll just live with it, thanks

just out of curiousity

does it happen only when both the neck and bridge are on, or only when just the neck is on, or both?
