I bought a 1996 Fender MIM 50th anniversary rosewood neck yesterday that made me wonder about MIM.
(50th of Fender as a company 1946-1996) I didnt have a Rosewood so grabbed this one in case I have the urge for rosewood.$100. Then after the shopping buzz faded off...I wondered what and where was Fender MIM in 1996? So I surfed instead of playing and wondered how much it is worth if I sell it. my last rosewood sold for around $100-$150, brand new can be $199 Fender without Tuners....I got US /MIM Tuners so thats worth about $60. So the neck is like $40..not bad.

1) MIM factory is about 180 minutes away from the Corona plant which was 25 minutes away from Fullerton at Ensenada.
2) Is this true? I read "All Fenders hardware is the same on all ..coming from Ping (CHina) or Gotoh (Japan).
No proof only internet babble...but probably true(it was a long thread)...you ever wonder where the tuners and screws and jacks came from? the screws and pickguards? (excluding pickups)
3) MIM factory is full blown now but there used to be a lot of back and forth between Corona aka "co-built".
MIM plant burnt down to ashes 1993-94, rose from the ashes and has less OSHA and EPA laws than Corona.
4)MIM was given the original machines as the new US Corona was given the new CNC tools and the like initially and the Fullerton plant became empty and fell into decay.
5)California Series was id was AMXN 1997-98..interesting little run of cool guitars there.
6) MIM plant 25yrs old in 2012 ...2037 will be MIM's 50th.
1946 to 1996 is Fenders 50th Anniversary.... 2046 will be the 100th anniversary.
1954 to 2004 is 50th for Stratocasters...2054 will the 100th anniversary.
7)Easy Serial ID view-
MN serial id is 1990-2000
MZ is 2000-2010
MX series from 2011 and on.....MX11,MX12 etc...and beyond MX17...
8) one post said, 2004, the MIM was doing 1000 guitars a day in line. They also do amplifiers...and who knows what else...maybe tennis shoes and shirts too. How many guitars does Fender sell anyway!!?
9) My G5 Fender/Roland is MIM and its Sunburst is better than the US I sold last year.

Does anyone recall anything about 1996? the 50th anniversary? MIM? any good weed while vacationing in Ensenada? Does anyone have the AMXN Strat?

This post is to celebrate the 50th anniversary...er.. 21yrs late...a belated good job to Leo F. and team Fender.
50 and beyond...Leo passed 1991 but hail hail rock n roll...or country or jazz or reggae whatever. I dont really like Tequilla because it makes me crazy stupid and forget where my car is.

1946 to 2017...happy 71st I guess...heading to 100. Hail Centurians..now go play.

my new MIM 50th neck is 21yrs old, looks brand new. I'll say its worth $300 with tuners, so I just made a $200 profit. cool!
