I am recording my music now using Cool Edit Pro. I need to get a mixer to hock it up to my computer to improve my recording.
I like the Mackie CFX 12 since it has effects. I¡¦ve seen so many brands but I don¡¦t know which the best is. (Tascam, Roland,Fostex, Behringer , and Alesis) ƒ¼
Is Mackie cfx12 the best mixer to get? What better options do I have?
since you are using your computer, i feel you should use software effects, instead of the effects on the CFX 12, as they suck for recording. I often use one for live mixing (only because it is a well paying gig) and there are only 1 or 2 usable effects on the CFX 12.
you say you need a mixer to "improve your sound". how does it need improving? do you need multiple mic preamps? do you need a mixer, if you might only be recording 1 or 2 things at once?
some fairly trusted names in mixers are mackie (but don't get them for the effects) soundcraft, allen & heath.
I am recording from three channels at a time(using a very simple mixer hocked to my PC). but I need to modify each channel sepratlely before it get's mixed?
so do I really need a mixer? if so, what would you recommend?
