Hi just want to know if anyone has anything to say about this item. Thinking of buying it, can get it cheap. What do you think?

Hi Becca ;)

I'm in WA down on the south coast.

I have used one for a couple of years and it has been totally reliable and it sounds great. Don't let anyone tell you it is difficult to use. Once you begin to understand how it works it becomes very logical.

Kahuna be right, learning curve is there but as you go everything makes more and more sense. I have the upgrade, a Yami AW1600, and as soon as it's done with the dishes I have some fries for it to cut and the dryer needs fixed... :D

Seriously, one nice machine...

I'll chime in as well. It's a great machine and well worth what they're going for used.

The manual sucks a bunch of ass, but the forum referenced above is a huge help, and it does start to make a lot of sense after tinkering with it a bit.

Rebecca, this is one of those rare questions that receives almost a universal response: the aw16g is a fantastic multitracker for the money. But don't trust me. Spend some time searching the archives here, searching the online mag reviews, and searching the user-created 16g forum--and you'll see what I mean. Pro reviewers and users alike are as enthusiastic about this machine, for what it is, as you'll find for nearly any recording product. There are certainly other worthy machines out there, but none receiving stronger raves from a wide range of sources.

Excuse my gushing here, but I've used one in my home studio for three years and am a card-carrying member of this fan club. I sing the praises whenever I can to anyone considering this fine machine. Then again, no machine is perfect for everyone, so do your homework to make sure that the G's features match your particular needs. There's no built-in drum/bass machine here, for instance--just a great 16-track recorder, with 4-band EQ and DSP on every channel, and one of the most helpful user support groups you'll ever find.
