erg.. i just read some stuff about this.. tails in or out for analog tape, stops print through... which is what? whats better?

actually it will NOT stop print thru, but will *cover* over any that might occur. "Tails out" is storing your music on the take up reel (so you have to re-wind before playing a tape). Should you get any print thru to the adjacent layers of tape when stored, the idea is that the music will cover over the effect and you will not hear it. "Tails in", of course is the opposite. The effect is usually most noticeable at the beginning of songs if there is a print thru when stored tails IN. You hear a (low volume "print-thru") bit of the song before it actually starts. Listen to the lead vocal break in Led Zeppelins' "Whole Lotta Love" in the middle section where Robt. Plant sings..."way down inside...women"..... Whether that is actually print thru or not, that is what it sounds like.
