Hi,
My Tascam US-1800 died today, so I'll need a replacement. Tascam have the newer US-16x08, which is similar but has 2 more inputs. What i love about these units is that the 4/6 inputs on the back are line in so you can hook em up with any preamp, this is a feature not many interfaces have and i like it a lot!
This brought me to the question, If i have enough inputs (i want 14 minimum, but 16 is what I'd like), why would i ever use an expensive interface, if i could hook up a Neve to the tascam? Is there quality to be had in the AD/DA? Seems like it would be a very small difference in quality.
So if you can tell me why spending around £600 (my max budget) and really investing in an interface is worth it, let me know please!
Im recording people a lot and want to get great gear that will stay as a i grow, i ran a portable setup a lot with the Tascam, so anything rack mountable is great.
