Digital Multitrack Recorders Advice

Maybe you can help a computer-challenged, music-loving novice out.

I'm looking for a good new or used digital multitrack recorder.
Maybe 6 or 8 track.
Decent built-in vocal and guitar effects.
Decent drum beats and edit (or at least a drum click track : )
Burn to disk function not essential.
Decent built-in preamp.
Can you tell I'm a novice ) :
I would say in the $500 range.
I'm in Canada so ideally something I can track down within country.


And no I'm not looking for DAW/software advice here : )

I would try and get hold of a Boss BR1600. Can be a bit daunting at first but read and make sure it comes with the manual! Even cheaper and great introduction is the Boss BR8..........some great looking deals on ebay!
