Alesis Studio 32 Mixer ???

Hey guys,
Ive been looking for a mixer, I found this used Alesis Studio 32 (16 channel in/out 8 xlr, and designed with studio monitoring need in mind apparently) in superb condition,for about 299.00.. Anyone know how this would compare to a used mackie in the same price range?

I need something pretty quick, and this seems like a cool little rig. However I would really like your thoughts on it.

Those little guys have some great routing options, but the sound leaves something to be desired. My band did an album on the smaller version a few years back, via an adat machine; as expected, it came out somewhat tinny. There are some nice things about it, such as the tape returns for each channel. I think crosstalk was somewhat of an issue with these, but back then, I was too ignorant to really notice.
