4-ohm rated amp with 8-ohm speakers

Hi, I'm highly considering purchasing a Sampson Servo 120 or 170 amp to power my home speakers (using as monitors) until I can afford nearfields and I'm wondering, assuming my current speakers are 8-ohm, will that mean I'll only get 30 to 40W output/channel by using the Sampson as power?

Or will the increased resistance allow stability up to 60 or so at 8-ohm? My receiver/amp is way too flaky to accurately monitor even for my low-fi recording anymore so I figure a new amp's the next step to take..

A clarification....

Doubleing the resistence does not mean halfing the power.

If your amp is outputting 60 watts a side at 4 ohms, you would get around 50 watts at 8 ohms. Guesstimations here of course, but look at the specs on the amp (usually you can view these in their "fluff" brosures).
