I am wondering if anyone knows the thickness, width and placement of felt strips on John Bonham's Bass drum

I would assume such a well known drummer would have multiply kits/placements for different bands/occasions.

However i can't answer your question

There are a few you tube videos dedicated to just that!
Felts, drum heads, cymbals, sticks - everything.
Just look around a bit - for I don't have a link handy.

Any mic you buy will be perfectly suited to your needs, until you use it long enough to learn that it's not.

I believe the you tube video that I viewed was by the recording engineer that explained everything.

And from memory I can recall a few different write ups stating that the felts were thick.

Lots of drum stores (and possibly online) sell felt strips especially for this purpose. That's what I use...

Ask me anything about cubase and I probably know the answer. Except what is "best." Asking for the best is like asking who is the prettiest woman on the planet.

I'm mostly with ya there. Great player, obviously an all-time legend among legends, but his drum sounds were just whatever to me.
