Vintage Ludwigs or New Legacy set/kit

I haven't been on here in a while, 5 years.....lol. but anyway, I was in a car accident and have a little money coming. I have figured out that to be truly happy I will need a Bonham style kit, and a Jazz/bop kit. I can get the Paiste cymbals (rev al big ride etc.) for the Bonham kit and more exotic cymbals for the Jazz/bop kit.

Should I look for vintage or go with the Legacy drums. I want the poplar/maple/poplar 3 ply shells for both. I like the old school cymbal mount and the old school tom mount because of the positioning it gives. I think vintage are cheaper than the legacy, but the legacy would be new. I don't know.

depends on the sound you want. A 3 ply vintage ludwig kit in jazz sizes will have a unique sound compared to a modern 3 ply kit.
Also really depends on how much you want to spend.
I've got a 69 ludwig 3ply kit (20,13,16) and a new Gretsch kit (24,13,16) to cover the spectrum of sounds.
