Stomp box that is not a git effect?

After limited research and less thought I turn to this forum to make an ass out of myself. Is there such a thing as an acoutic stomp box? Such that I might tap my foot on a box and record the sound in the likes of a country or simple blues tune. Can I constuct such a box? I will refer to a band called "Bone Pony". They were an all acoustic band and had a great percusion/timing/low end.

If you can deduct what I'm looking for, please send all info along.
